About
Lesley Harrington (Ph.D. 2010, University of Toronto)
Physical Anthropology, specializing in skeletal biology (osteology) and dental anthropology
Dr. Harrington’s research interests are in variation of growth patterns of humans and related species from an evolutionary perspective. She is also interested in the biocultural factors (e.g., physical activity, caregiving, diet, weaning) that influence growth and development. Lesley measures growth disruptions in prehistoric human teeth (linear enamel hypoplasia) and in the skeleton via stature estimation. She has also investigated the relationship between childhood physical activity and bone mass in a prehistoric context and her work to date has focused on Later Stone Age (Holocene) hunter-gatherers from southern Africa.
